Job Purpose

The Procurement Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the operational teams in delivering a wide range of bespoke construction projects. This involves procuring quality products and services in a cost-efficient and timely manner, ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Group Buying Manager to develop and implement buying processes, policies, and frameworks.
  • Assist in the procurement of standard and bespoke goods and materials, ensuring best value for the company.
  • Coordinate and manage the procurement of hired-in plant and equipment, as well as skip and waste management services.
  • Manage RWA-owned plant, including repairs and purchases, to ensure optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Effectively deploy plant and administer the re-use of second-hand materials to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Communicate with and manage existing supply chain partners, negotiating rebates and setting up credit accounts where possible.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for new supply chain partners to the Group Buying Manager.
  • Provide cover for team members in the event of absence or holiday, ensuring seamless project delivery.
  • Assist in reconciling Visa/Mastercard receipts for purchases, assessing spend, and setting up credit accounts where possible.
  • Support the stock control and purchasing process for company-wide clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in producing and evaluating buying statistics to inform procurement decisions.
  • Work from a material schedule when required, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
  • Act as a first point of contact for department queries, both internally and externally.
  • Raise Purchase Orders in Evo M, deal with invoice queries, and chase orders as required.

Requirements

  • Previous knowledge of the buying process and experience in negotiation.
  • Previous experience managing a large volume of orders and a diverse range of products to support multiple live sites.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and plant equipment is desirable.
  • Experience using EVO M or a similar buying/accounts system.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational skills, able to prioritize, make decisions, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on individual initiative with minimal supervision.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer, and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Highly motivated with a proactive approach to individual learning and development.
  • Effective communication and liaison skills with key stakeholders and internal departments.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Negotiation skills.

Working Hours

  • 39 hours per week.
  • Working hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Thursday, and 08:00 to 16:00 on Fridays, with a 1-hour unpaid break each day.
