Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time
Job Description

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated PhD Researcher to investigate the mystery of ocean plastics and their impact on marine life, the environment, and human health.

This research project will focus on understanding how particles settle in a stratified ocean, which is crucial for various geophysical flows, including cloud formation and ash-settling from volcanic eruptions. The successful candidate will use laboratory experiments to investigate particle-driven convection and develop an understanding of the important physics involved.

The salary for this position is estimated at £24,000 - £28,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key requirements include a good 2.1 degree in Engineering or a related subject, a strong theoretical background in fluid mechanics, practical/experimental research experience, and good programming abilities (e.g., Matlab, Python).

To apply, please submit your application through the University of Cambridge Applicant Portal, with Megan Davies Wykes identified as the potential supervisor. Please note that funding is conditional on submitting this application before the deadline.
