We are seeking a talented PhD student to join the Entangled project, an innovative research initiative that explores the relationships between southern Africa and the Indian Ocean World during the Global Middle Ages (500-1500 CE).

The selected candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team led by Dr Abigail Moffett and Professor Paul Lane, conducting research on excavated materials from southern Mozambique.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in archaeology or a relevant field with specialization in southern Africa.
  • Strong linguistic skills in Portuguese or Xitswa, or a commitment to acquiring these skills during the PhD program.
  • Compliance with the eligibility criteria for a PhD application in archaeology.
