Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Theatre Manager to join our team at Spire Manchester Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a large team in a busy environment and drive clinical governance and risk management within the operating department.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have strong experience of leading a large team, with excellent leadership and mentoring skills. They will be responsible for ensuring that clinical governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice, achieving the theatre budget and specific key performance indicators, and optimizing theatre utilization in relation to booked operating sessions and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department
  • Act as a role model and mentor to clinical staff, providing advice and support to promote good practice consistent with legislation and Spire Healthcare's policies
  • Identify, develop, and support opportunities for improvements in operating department practices, as highlighted through evidence, research-based practice, and national standards
  • Achieve the theatre budget and specific key performance indicators
  • Work with others to optimize theatre utilization in relation to booked operating sessions and availability to meet the demands of elective work, taking action with regards under-utilization of lists as appropriate
  • Manage staff rosters in the most efficient way to meet demand, while maintaining compliance with the Agency staff KPI on the Clinical Scorecard and balancing the use of overtime

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse / ODP with NMC/HCPC registration
  • Strong experience of leading a large team in a large, busy environment is essential
