Meatex Trading Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Food Safety and Quality Specialist to join our team at Dunbia Cardington. This is a dynamic opportunity for a results-driven professional to lead the Technical, Hygiene, and Animal Welfare functions on site.

About the Role

This exciting position offers a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Maintaining and enhancing the site's Food Safety and Quality Management Systems to ensure customer, certification body, and legislative compliance.
  2. Supporting all site departments in adhering to customer, certification body, and legislative requirements.
  3. Reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) and site compliance to the Senior Management Team and Group as needed.
  4. Liaising with regulatory authorities, such as the FSA, to ensure efficient operation of the business.
  5. Fostering excellent customer relationships and addressing requests, queries, complaints, and feedback effectively.
  6. Verifying root cause analysis, corrective, and preventative actions arising from non-conformances raised by customers, competent authorities, internal or group audits.
  7. Developing and refining company policies, systems, and procedures to meet customer, certification body, legislation, company objectives, and industry 'best practice' requirements.
  8. Regularly reviewing and reporting on cost-effectiveness and identifying opportunities for cost savings within the Technical, Hygiene, and Stores teams without compromising product safety, quality, or legality.
  9. Ensuring staff receive relevant training, including refresher training, suitable for their roles and tasks within the Technical, Hygiene, Stores, and Animal Welfare functions.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Technical management experience, preferably within the meat industry.
  • A science-based degree or equivalent relevant training and experience.
  • Strong focus on results, along with excellent people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
