Director of Occupational Health and Safety

Job Summary:
NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Occupational Health and Safety to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our occupational health and safety strategy, ensuring the well-being and safety of our staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure the effective management of occupational health and safety risks.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure the integration of occupational health and safety into all aspects of the organization.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external regulatory bodies, such as the Health and Safety Executive, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on occupational health and safety matters.
- Lead the development and implementation of training programs to ensure staff are equipped to manage occupational health and safety risks.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve staff engagement and participation in occupational health and safety initiatives.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety, ergonomics, or risk management.
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or public sector organization.
- Advanced knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective occupational health and safety strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and stakeholders.
