About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Occupational Health and Safety Director to join our team at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. As the lead officer for health and safety, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist professional advice to governance forums and committees to ensure legislative requirements are met and staff wellbeing, welfare, and working environments are improved.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of health and safety strategy, policy, and plans to ensure delivery of professional standards and performance management.
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies, such as the Health and Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officers, and Healthcare Improvement Scotland, to ensure statutory duties and best practice standards are maintained.
  • Provide senior leadership and strategic resource management for the creation, development, implementation, review, and refinement of complex systems, processes, and standards.
Requirements
  • Strong background in health and safety, with extensive senior management experience working at a strategic level in a large, complex organization.
  • Education to Masters level, with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics/Human Factors, or Risk Management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
