Occupational Health and Safety Director

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Director for Occupational Health and Safety. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, policies, and plans to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
- Provide specialist professional advice to governance forums and committees, ensuring that health and safety risks are minimized and staff wellbeing is promoted.
- Engage with external regulatory bodies, including the Health and Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officers, and Healthcare Improvement Scotland, to ensure statutory duties are met and best practice standards are maintained.
- Provide senior leadership and strategic resource management for the creation, development, implementation, review, and refinement of complex systems, processes, and standards to underpin Occupational Health and Safety and Human Factors.
Requirements:
- Strong background in Health and Safety, with extensive senior management experience working at a strategic level within a large, complex organization, preferably within the NHS or public sector.
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge through advanced level training and experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics/Human Factors, and Risk Management.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
