Assistant Director for Occupational Health and Safety

About the Role:

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director for Occupational Health and Safety to join their team. As the lead officer for health and safety, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety performance of the organization across various programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist professional advice to governance forums and committees within the Board.
  • Develop and implement all aspects of strategy, policy, and plans relating to health and safety.
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies to ensure statutory duties and best practice standards are maintained.
  • Provide senior leadership and strategic resource management for the creation, development, implementation, review, and refinement of complex systems, processes, and standards.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in Health & Safety.
  • Extensive senior management experience working at a strategic level within a large, complex organization.
  • Education to Masters level and advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics/Human Factors, and Risk Management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
