About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our Information Services team at AESC UK's Sunderland-based manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in network-related projects and changes, planning and implementing new network architecture, and supporting the Operations team in network-related incident and problem management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in network-related projects and changes, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Plan, install, configure, and commission new network architecture, working closely with the network architect.
  • Support the Operations team in network-related incident and problem management, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing counter-measures.
  • Collaborate with the network architect and wider IS team to manage network security across the company's enterprise, manufacturing, and datacentre networks.
  • Maintain and promote network-related policies, processes, procedures, and documentation, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Work closely with team colleagues, UK business departments, and contacts within other regional plants and the Global-IS function.
  • Provide regular network-related reporting to both IS and business management.

Requirements:

  • Experience in participating in IT network-related projects, changes, and planning activities.
  • Proficiency in using network management access tools, ideally Cisco Identity Services Engine.
  • Demonstrable IT skills with relevant experience in supporting network and network management services and infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, cyber-security, hardware infrastructure, or routing protocols.
  • Working-level knowledge of Cisco ACI Datacentre, Cisco DNAC, and Cisco Wi-Fi.
  • Understanding of vSphere virtual switches.
  • A relevant IT degree.
