About the Role

Sands, a leading charity in the UK, is seeking a highly skilled Programme Officer to develop and implement the Befriender programme. This exciting opportunity will enable you to make a significant impact in supporting individuals affected by pregnancy loss or baby loss.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a strong team of Befriender Volunteers across the UK, promoting diversity and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteering, Bereavement Support Services, and Training Teams to ensure a cohesive approach to volunteering.
  • Design and deliver training programmes to enhance the skills and knowledge of Befrienders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting a culture of equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Manage and prioritise a varied workload, ensuring effective time management and organisational skills.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent knowledge of volunteering in the charity sector, with a proven track record of supporting and motivating volunteers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with large numbers of geographically dispersed volunteers.
  • Experience in building programmes or projects around the principles of equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to create effective and professional relationships with Befrienders, ensuring they feel empowered to manage their volunteering commitments.
