We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Visiting Officer to join our Assessment Hub team at Enfield Council. As a Visiting Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality visiting support services to our customers, ensuring they receive the support they need in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections of empty or altered properties, residency checks, and other verification visits to ensure accuracy and compliance with council policies and procedures.
* Assist housebound or vulnerable customers with no advocacy or family support, providing them with the necessary guidance and assistance to navigate our services.
* Manage collection/income-related visits and other council reductions and relief visits, ensuring timely completion and effective communication with customers.
* Provide technical assessment and collection advice and guidance to customers, resolving their inquiries and updating relevant systems with clear audit trails.
* Maintain up-to-date records of customer contact and work undertaken, ensuring accurate and efficient record-keeping.
* Collaborate with Assessment Hub managers for an integrated strategic approach, contributing to team meetings with ideas for procedural improvements.
* Engage effectively with vulnerable/challenging customers and situations, promoting equality in service and employment.
* Stay informed of policies, procedures, and legislation, ensuring compliance and adherence to council policies and procedures.
* Promote the use of the council website as a customer portal, contributing to the development of effective communication channels.
* Prioritize workload and manage conflicting demands, escalating issues when necessary to ensure timely request completion.
* Utilize IT systems effectively, informing opportunities for efficiency improvements and contributing to the development of effective IT solutions.
Requirements
* Experience in collection/assessment roles and relevant business administration/professional qualifications.
* Competencies in building relationships, solving problems, adaptability, and delivering results.
* Good understanding of collection, income-related assessments, and benefit services.
* Knowledge of best practices in collection/assessment within a local authority environment.
* Understanding of welfare benefits and value for money principles.
* Business administration/Local Government professional qualification.
