The HM Treasury is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Head of Excise. This is a key role within the Business & International Tax group, responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise in excise taxation.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Strategy: Provide leadership to a team of 5 Excise Branch staff, setting clear strategic priorities and delivering high-quality work to support ministers.
- Policy Development: Advise and support the Chancellor and other ministers on excise duties, including alcohol, tobacco, and vaping products.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate the development and delivery of new excise duties, including engagement with HMRC, DHSC, and other stakeholders.
- Reform and Strategy: Develop and advise ministers on strategic reform options for excise taxes, aligning with the government's fiscal objectives.
- Relationship Building: Build collaborative relationships with counterparts and seniors to ensure informed decision-making and effective communication of government policies.
