About the Role

Atlantic Projects Company Limited is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for our employees and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and approved safe working methods.
  • Safety Training and Development: Advise on safety training needs and deliver in-house safety training as required.
  • Worker Participation: Encourage worker participation through safety suggestions, safety meeting feedback, safety incentives, and prepare and display safety communications and posters.
  • Audit and Monitoring: Conduct regular audits of work areas, premises, and processes to identify and report deficiencies for action.
  • Equipment Safety: Monitor the standard and effectiveness of statutory examinations of plant, equipment, and electrical appliances and installations, and their associated records.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure that PPE is issued to employees and that they understand how, when, and why to use it.
  • First Aid and Emergency Procedures: Ensure that suitable first aid equipment is readily available, suitably marked, and that there are adequate numbers of trained first aiders.
  • Fire Safety: Monitor and check fire precautions, emergency procedures, and ensure that firefighting equipment is maintained in good order and correctly distributed around the work area and accommodation.
  • Accident Reporting and Statistics: Record and process accident reports and prepare visual statistics.
  • Safety Policy and Procedures: Ensure that site management and supervision are aware of and understand company safety policy and safety procedures, and have access to relevant safety documentation.
  • Subcontractor Safety: Assess and monitor the safety performance of subcontractors.
  • Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Systems: Maintain and implement Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Systems meeting the needs of ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 and any subsequent or related standards.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree level qualified in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Skills: Well-organized and able to work under pressure, effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to prioritize own workload and deliver to agreed standards, excellent IT/system skills.
