Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer to join our team at Boskalis Westminster. As a Marine Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard the vessel, as well as carrying out the role of GP Rating.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the vessel is prepared for sea passage, including stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity
  • Conducting regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to ensure optimal condition and operational capability
  • Arranging transfers of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water
  • Ensuring all planned maintenance and repair work is carried out with minimal disruption to the vessel's program
  • Exercising measures to prevent pollution of the environment
  • Keeping accurate engine room records
  • Providing and receiving detailed handovers when joining or leaving a vessel
  • Being conversant with Company and Shipboard regulations and policies
  • Participating in safety drills and training to maintain the highest safety standards
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • AEC 1 certification (and ability to obtain AEC 2)
  • Nav Watch rating Certificate (hold or be able to obtain)
  • ENG1 certification
  • Elementary First Aid certification
  • Basic Fire Fighting certification
  • Sea Survival Course certification
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification
Desirable Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Knowledge of the technical operation of designated equipment
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety rules
  • Basic skills in ICT Office and fleet management systems
  • Formal Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
