As a Marine Engineer with Boskalis, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard the vessel, as well as carrying out the role of GP Rating.

Main Tasks:
  • Familiarize yourself with the vessel's construction, machinery, and operating characteristics.
  • Conduct relevant checks before departure on a sea passage, ensuring the vessel is prepared for the voyage, taking into account factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity.
  • Report any deficiencies to the Master and Technical Superintendent.
  • Make regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to ensure they are in good condition and operational.
  • Arrange all transfers of fuel, lubricating oil, and fresh water.
  • Ensure all planned maintenance and emergency repair work is carried out, in conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendent, to minimize disruption to the vessel's program and maximize the reliability and availability of the plant.
  • Exercise all measures to prevent pollution of the environment.
  • Keep all engine room records as required by the Company and other authorities, ensuring they are completed neatly and accurately.
  • Provide/receive a detailed handover when joining/leaving a Company vessel.
  • Be fully conversant with Company and Shipboard regulations and policies to carry out efficient and safe functions.
  • Be familiar with all safety equipment onboard and participate in safety drills and training to ensure the highest operational standard of the vessel at all times.
  • Carry out duties of GP Rating.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • AEC 1 (and capable to obtain AEC2)
  • Nav Watch rating Certificate (hold or be able to obtain)
  • ENG1
  • Elementary First Aid
  • Basic Fire Fighting
  • Sea Survival Course
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the technical operation of the installations of designated equipment
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of the applicable Occupational Health & Safety rules
  • Basic skills in ICT Office and fleet management systems
  • Formal Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline

  • Current passport
