Job Title: Consultant in Anaesthesia

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Anaesthesia to join our team at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Consultant in Anaesthesia, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, leading a team of anaesthetists, and contributing to the development of our anaesthesia department.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, including pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia, and post-operative care.

• Lead a team of anaesthetists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure excellent patient care.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve patient safety and quality of care.

• Participate in the development and implementation of clinical governance and audit initiatives.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Person Specification:

• Essential criteria:

• Experience in the management of high-risk patients.

• Evidence of higher training or equivalent in obstetric anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia, and anaesthesia for airway surgery.

• Completion of specialist training programme in anaesthesia or equivalent (CCT/CESR).

• FRCA or equivalent.

• SIA (Special Interest Area) or equivalent Fellowship or equivalent proven capabilities in relevant area of expertise for post being applied for.

• Candidate should be on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia (CCT/CESR) or, if UK trainee, within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.

• Stage 3 or equivalent level of training in Education and Training (including has met requirements to be a clinical supervisor).

• Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.

Desirable criteria:

• Formal teaching/training related qualifications or accreditation.

• Formal qualification in business skills.

• Management qualification or current study towards management qualification.

• Evidence of service audit, design, or change management.

• SIA/fellowship in perioperative medicine, Prehabilitation, CPET qualification.

• NHS experience within the last 3 years.

• Experience as a Locum Consultant at an acute hospital.

• Experience in acute management of critically ill children.
