Job Title: Consultant in Anaesthesia

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Anaesthesia to join our team at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, leading a team of anaesthetists, and contributing to the development of anaesthetic services.

Key Requirements:
  • Experience in managing high-risk patients and evidence of higher training or equivalent in obstetric anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia, and anaesthesia for airway surgery.
  • Leadership skills, knowledge of finance and budgets, and ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Understanding of clinical governance principles and experience of audit.
  • Completion of specialist training programme in anaesthesia or equivalent (CCT/CESR) and FRCA or equivalent.
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia (CCT/CESR) or, if UK trainee, within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
  • Stage 3 or equivalent level of training in Education and Training and experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Formal teaching/training related qualifications or accreditation and formal qualification in business skills.
  • Management qualification or current study towards management qualification and evidence of service audit, design, or change management.
  • NHS experience within the last 3 years and experience as a Locum Consultant at an acute hospital.
  • Experience in acute management of critically ill children and evidence of service audit, design, or change management.
  • SIA/fellowship in perioperative medicine, Prehabilitation, CPET qualification.
