Crisis Care Practitioner - Clinical access line
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinician to join the newly formed Clinical Access Line. The Clinical Access Line is a new service, central to the delivery of the 111 Mental health option national requirement. NHS England require all trusts to have a '24/7 open access telephone lines for urgent NHS mental health support, advice and triage, and through which people of all ages can access the NHS mental health pathway/further support if needed' by April 2024.
The salary for this position is £37,338-£44,962 per annum (pro rata for part time), making it an attractive opportunity for those seeking a challenging role in mental health care. As a crisis care practitioner, you will be part of a team that consists of qualified clinicians who are knowledgeable about different services and options. You will be supported by a clinical lead on each shift. Our team provides one number for support and referrals to secondary mental health crisis services within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including all ages.
Key responsibilities include completing triage assessments of more complex calls using a triage tool to assess the urgency of care required. You will also demonstrate expertise in analysing and reflecting upon your own clinical practice and that of others in all aspects of care given to patients in crisis and their families/carers. Additionally, you will have highly developed report writing skills and be able to make appropriate referrals to other services. Developed knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience in managing these situations, including advising colleagues where necessary, is essential.
In terms of qualifications, a professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy, social work at Diploma or degree level, is required. Evidence of learning and development post qualification is also expected. Relevant post-registration experience in adult mental health is necessary, as well as experience of multi-disciplinary working, acute mental health care, comprehensive mental health assessments, risk management plans, and safeguarding. Managerial/clinical leadership skills and experience of managing a duty system are also desirable.
