We are a major animal attraction in the North East of England, committed to providing inspiring educational experiences for our visitors. Our unique Livingstone's fruit bat enclosure is just one example of our dedication to conservation and education.

This role offers the chance to contribute to our mission and shape the future of our education programme. As an Education Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all conservation education activities, managing a diverse workload, and prioritising tasks effectively.

  1. Main Objectives:
  2. Adapt and implement our education strategy, aligning it with our zoo's mission and curricular aims.
  3. Design and deliver high-quality education activities to a range of audiences, liaising with teachers and adapting as required.
  4. Create bespoke resources that meet the learning outcomes for schools and organisations.
  5. Collaborate with teachers to provide advice and guidance on workshop content, pricing, and timetables.
  6. Manage education administration, including tracking metrics, payments, and visit numbers.
  7. Assist with the management of the volunteer programme and maintain education facilities.
  8. Foster strict adherence to risk assessments, biosecurity, and safe working practices.

We offer a competitive salary of up to £28,500 per annum, 40 hours per week across 5 days, with occasional weekend and bank holiday hours. You will also receive 28 days' holiday per annum (including Bank Holidays), increasing by 1 annually to a maximum of 33 days after 5 years, as well as a sick pay allowance of 1 week after 12 months' service and a pension scheme.
