Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality technical service in the Histology Laboratory, working closely with medical staff, scientists, and support staff to ensure the efficient delivery of results to cancer patients.
Main Responsibilities
- Work in all areas of the Histology Laboratory, including provision of Biomedical Scientist cut-up, tissue sectioning, and staining.
- Participate in the reception, preparation, and documentation of specimens for Histology, including Post-mortem material.
- Contribute to the production of histology sections for microscopic examination, including cut-up, embedding, microtomy, staining, and microscopy.
- Rotate through all sections of the department, including the Special Techniques area, which covers Immunocytochemistry and Molecular Pathology.
- Input test requests onto the laboratory computer system in a timely fashion to maintain efficient workflow and laboratory turnaround times.
- Participate in the training and teaching of trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
