Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to provide a technical service in our Histology Laboratory.

The successful candidate will work in all areas of the laboratory, including provision of Biomedical Scientist cut-up, tissue sectioning, and staining.

They will also participate in the rotation through specialist areas, such as Immunocytochemistry and Molecular Pathology.

The ideal candidate will have HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist and experience working in a busy Histology Department.

About the Role

The Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Working in all sections of the department on a rotational basis
  • Participating in the reception, preparation, and documentation of specimens for Histology
  • Participating in specimen processing and the production of histology sections for microscopic examination
  • Rotating through all sections of the department, including the Special Techniques area
  • Inputting test requests onto the laboratory computer system
  • Participating in the training and teaching of trainee Biomedical Scientists and other healthcare professionals

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BSc (Hon) Biomedical Science
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Knowledge of Histology
  • Good Communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to undertake CPD and Specialist Diploma in Histology
