Our client is a leading corporate and investment bank with a large and established leveraged finance business.
Job Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced credit professional to join our team in London.
The role involves responsibility for approximately one third of the LBO portfolio of c$5bn direct lending across EMEA, covering c170+ accounts with a particular focus on large cap corporate cross-over accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Usage of Credit Officer level delegated authority initially, with potential for Senior Credit Officer authority in the near term.
- Senior level review and challenge within a Level 2 function of LBO related front office and Loan Capital Markets credit applications, implementing the bank's Risk Appetite Framework.
- Deep and extensive credit knowledge and transaction experience to provide credit risk and market risk assessments of net take and underwriting positions, focusing on large cap sponsor and cross-over corporate transactions.
- Manage requests including approvals from the leveraged loan portfolio, evaluating, challenging, and recommending/approving SPD proposed waivers, annual reviews, and credit monitoring/grading.
- Lead negotiations for the bank in LBO Special Credits, setting strategy for credit and assessing provisions.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of VP/AVP credit officers, contributing to the development of the LBO team to support the Business Strategy of EMEA.
- Challenge the status quo to build stronger control functions and enhance front office capabilities, processes, and systems.
- Develop and implement training on all aspects of LBO risk, including grading, documentation, and credit analysis.
Requirements:
- Seasoned credit professional with substantial lending experience in leading and negotiating deals in a front office or credit role, with knowledge of large cap and cross-over corporate transactions.
- Degree-level education and/or equivalent professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, ACT, CFA, MBA) with longevity (10-15 years+) and experience at a high level in the financial sector.
- Very strong numerical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and review financial models, including identifying drivers and potential errors.
