Main Responsibilities

To manage a team of staff delivering responses to requests made under Data Protection, Access to Health Records and Freedom of Information Acts.

To assist with the day-to-day support, induction, and training of more junior staff.

To provide support for the management team within Information Governance.

Where required, carry out activities which support the provision of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.

To provide Information Governance Advice to all levels of staffing within the Trust.

Main Duties:

  • To work as part of the Information Governance's management team.
  • To manage the Information Governance Team (Freedom of Information Support Officer and Disclosure Team) ensuring all requests for data are received centrally, recorded, and processed in line with Trust/Data Protection Act/GDPR (DPA), Access to Health Records Act (AHRA) adhering to time limits and ensuring any applicable fees are reclaimed.
  • To manage and monitor IG Team standards and performance and provide monthly activity reports to the Information Governance Manager and ensure the Information Governance Team information resources are kept up to date of all actions at all times.
  • To support the Senior IG Officer in coordinating the completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit external assessment including identifying requirements, evidence, and gaps.
  • Contribute to development of IG standards and codes of practice within the Corporate Governance Team and Trust wide.
  • The post holder will be on the scheme of delegation and will be expected to maintain office consumables using Unit 4.

About the Role:

The Information Governance Team supports staff to develop and grow within their roles.

We have a flexible working Policy which allows where mutually beneficial staff the opportunity to have flexibility (where mutually beneficial) of how their hours are worked and in some instances to occasionally work remotely.

Working for the Information Governance Team will expand your knowledge of various legislative requirements which will bring you in to contact with a wide variety of staff operating in every aspect of delivery of the health service we provide.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation, Access to Health Records Act 1990, Freedom of Information Act.
  • Must be IT literate and have good MS Windows skills to include Word and Excel.
  • NHS IT Systems.
  • Minimum of 2 GCSEs which must include English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Freedom of Information ISEB Data Protection ISEB.
  • General understanding of Human Resources Policies & Procedures.
