Role Overview:

We are seeking a Junior Sous Chef to enhance our Pastry Kitchen. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef - Pastry in organizing daily kitchen operations to uphold the luxury hotel’s high standards.
  • Overseeing and mentoring pastry team members, ensuring compliance with recipes, techniques, and presentation standards.
  • Contributing to the design and development of pastry menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and culinary trends.
  • Managing the production and preparation of pastry items, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery across all dining outlets and events.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of pastry supplies, collaborating with procurement to maintain stock while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
  • Ensuring a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting in scheduling pastry team members and managing labor costs to optimize staffing and productivity.
  • Coordinating with other kitchen departments to ensure smooth workflow and production schedules.
  • Helping to develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of pastry ingredients, techniques, and equipment, with the ability to create a variety of pastry items.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with experience in training and motivating team members.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in kitchen environments, with a commitment to maintaining hygiene standards.
  • A creative approach to pastry, evidenced by a portfolio of innovative and visually appealing creations.
  • Experience in fast-paced kitchen settings, with strong multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Familiarity with pastry costing and inventory management to support efficient operations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
