Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef to enhance our Pastry Kitchen. The key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef - Pastry in orchestrating daily pastry kitchen operations to uphold the high standards of our luxury establishment.
  • Leading and mentoring pastry team members, ensuring compliance with recipes, techniques, and presentation standards.
  • Contributing to the design and development of pastry menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
  • Overseeing the preparation and production of pastry items, guaranteeing consistency, quality, and timely service for all dining outlets and events.
  • Managing inventory levels of pastry supplies, collaborating with procurement to maintain adequate stock while minimizing waste and controlling expenses.
  • Ensuring a clean, organized, and hygienic pastry kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations and implementing effective sanitation practices.
  • Assisting in the scheduling of pastry team members and managing labor costs to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinating with other kitchen departments to streamline production schedules and ensure smooth operations.
  • Assisting in the formulation and implementation of standard operating procedures to enhance process efficiency and consistency.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of pastry ingredients, techniques, and equipment, with the capability to create a variety of pastry items.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities, with experience in training and motivating pastry team members.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting, with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Creative passion for pastry, evidenced by a portfolio of innovative and visually appealing creations.
  • Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Familiarity with pastry costing and inventory management to support efficient operations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across kitchen departments.
