Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal care to pregnant women, including routine check-ups, ultrasounds, and counseling.
  • Deliver babies in both health centres and conduct outreach work in the community.
  • Care for survivors of sexual violence and provide support to their families.
  • Set up maternity departments in new health centres/hospitals and train local staff.
  • Run awareness programs in the community to promote safe birthing practices and reproductive health.
  • Train local midwives and birth attendants to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Midwifery or related field.
  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Irish Nursing Board registration.
  • Two years post-qualification experience as a midwife.
  • Experience in supervising, managing, and training others.
  • Experience of obstetric emergencies/complicated deliveries, termination of pregnancy, and sexual violence.
