Job Summary

The role of a Team Leader Chef at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead a team of culinary professionals in the production of high-quality meals for patients and staff. The successful candidate will have a strong background in kitchen management, with experience in supervising a team and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Main Responsibilities
  • Organize the preparation and cooking of meals to the required standard for both the restaurants and patients, including special diets and function work.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all 'due-diligence' processes relating to cook-chill cooking procedures as stated in the food safety policy.
  • Monitor and control staff absence and sickness levels, and assist with staff training and development.
  • Ensure the economical and correct use of all materials and equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of staff morale and motivation through personal leadership and communication.
About Us

The Central Production Team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust produces over 3,500 meals daily, and the Catering department has achieved the Silver 'Food for Life' Catering Mark Accreditation. We pride ourselves on providing fresh, healthy, seasonal, traceable, and sustainable food to our clients.

Person Specification
  • Significant experience in a similar environment.
  • Literate and with a good command of spoken and written English.
  • Recognised supervisory qualification and Level 3 Food Hygiene certification.
  • Relevant chef qualification (NVQ 3) or equivalent.
