Volunteer Reader for Individuals with Visual Impairment

We are seeking a dedicated and patient individual to support a person with a visual impairment in learning to read.
This role involves providing one-to-one reading support, using a variety of materials and techniques to engage the individual and promote their literacy skills.
The ideal candidate will have a good sense of humour, be a good listener, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
As a Reader Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of someone with a disability, while also developing your own skills and experience in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one reading support to an individual with a visual impairment
- Use a variety of materials and techniques to engage the individual and promote their literacy skills
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Be patient, empathetic, and kind in your approach
- Deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures
Requirements:
- Be over the age of 18
