Reading Companion for Person with Visual Impairment

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Reader Volunteer for Person We Support. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a person with a visual impairment, helping them to learn to read and develop their literacy skills.
About the Role:As a Reader Volunteer, you will be working one-to-one with a person who has a visual impairment, providing support and guidance as they learn to read. You will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive learning environment, using a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate your learner. Your role will involve:
- Developing and implementing personalized learning plans to meet the needs of your learner
- Providing regular reading sessions, using a range of materials and resources to engage and motivate your learner
- Assessing and recording progress, making adjustments to the learning plan as needed
- Working collaboratively with other members of the team to ensure a comprehensive support package for your learner
To be successful in this role, you will need to be:
- Compassionate and empathetic, with a strong desire to support individuals with visual impairments
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with learners and colleagues
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
As a Reader Volunteer for Person We Support, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a person with a visual impairment. You will also receive:
