Job Title: Probate Solicitor

We are seeking a skilled Probate Solicitor to join our team at Themis Recruit. As a Probate Solicitor, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of probate and estate administration matters, including the preparation of wills, LPAs, and general PoAs. You will also be involved in the administration of estates, from basic to more complex and taxable estates involving IHT400s.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take instructions and prepare wills, LPAs, and general PoAs.
  • Administer estates, including those where the deceased has died intestate, and have a good understanding of the intestacy rules and procedures.
  • Understand trusts and the basic principles of tax affecting trusts upon creation and during the lifetime of the trust.
  • Set up and administer Life Interest trusts and Discretionary trusts following a death where such trusts are to be found in a deceased Will.
  • Awareness and experience of issues affecting the older client, including the Court of Protection and Deputyship work.
Requirements:
  • NQ-3 years PQE (Solicitor of CILEX).
  • STEP membership is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Good team player, self-sufficient, and self-supporting.
  • Ability to deal with clients from a broad demographic, from the more modest to the high net worth.
  • Willingness to get involved in networking and business development activities where the opportunity presents itself and be a great ambassador for the hiring firm.
  • Awareness of opportunities to cross-refer work within the department and also to other departments within the firm.
  • Ability to work calmly and methodically under pressure.
  • Car owner beneficial.
