About the Role

Our client, a prominent regional law firm known for its comprehensive legal services for both individuals and enterprises, is looking for a qualified solicitor or CILEX to join their expanding Wills, Trusts, and Probate (Post-Death) team. The ideal candidate will possess between NQ and 3 years of post-qualification experience and should ideally hold or be eager to pursue STEP accreditation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the taking of instructions and the drafting of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), and general Powers of Attorney.
  • Manage a diverse workload primarily focused on Probate and estate administration, ranging from straightforward cases (below IHT threshold) to more complex, taxable estates requiring IHT400 submissions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle estates where the deceased has passed away intestate, with a solid understanding of intestacy laws and procedures.
  • Possess knowledge of trusts and the fundamental tax implications associated with trusts at their inception and throughout their duration.
  • Have a basic understanding of establishing and managing Life Interest trusts and Discretionary trusts following a death, particularly where such trusts are specified in a deceased's Will.
  • Exhibit awareness and experience regarding issues pertinent to older clients, alongside an understanding of the Court of Protection and deputyship matters.

Candidate Requirements:
  • NQ to 3 years PQE (Solicitor or CILEX).
  • STEP membership is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong team player who is self-sufficient and able to work independently.
  • Capability to interact with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, from modest estates to high-net-worth individuals.
  • Willingness to engage in networking and business development activities when opportunities arise, acting as a positive representative for the firm.
  • Awareness of potential cross-referral opportunities within the department and across other departments within the firm.
  • Ability to maintain composure and methodical work habits under pressure.
  • Ownership of a vehicle is advantageous.
