Lead English Teacher Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead English Teacher to join our team at a non-profit independent special school in Westbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a tailored English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons using various strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.
  • Regularly assess student progress, set learning goals, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all students make progress.
  • Provide guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants in delivering English lessons and meeting SEN students' needs.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
  • Work closely with other staff, including SEN coordinators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Lead training and development sessions for staff on effective English teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Develop and manage resources for English teaching, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for SEN students.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered
  • Experience of teaching to secondary class/group
  • Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
  • Experience within an SEN setting an advantage
