Job Title: Academic English Teacher

Teaching Personnel is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic English Teacher to join our team at a non-profit independent special school in Westbury.

About the Role:

We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience in teaching English to secondary students with special educational needs (SEN). The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing tailored English curricula, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons, and providing guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Deliver high-quality English lessons using a range of teaching strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.
  • Regularly assess student progress, set learning goals, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all students make progress.
  • Provide guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants in delivering English lessons and meeting SEN students' needs.
  • Work closely with other staff, including SEN coordinators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Lead training and development sessions for staff on effective English teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
  • Develop and manage resources for English teaching, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for SEN students.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered.
  • Experience of teaching to secondary class/group.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
  • Experience within an SEN setting an advantage.
