Join Our Team as a Head of Communications

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications to lead our communications strategy during an exciting period of transformation.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that align with our corporate objectives.

  • Lead the development and implementation of communication strategies that promote our borough as a great place to live, work, and invest.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of our communications, including campaigns, media relations, and digital communications.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including our Leader and Cabinet, senior corporate leaders, local media, residents, businesses, and partners.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and proactive communication across all channels, addressing the diverse needs of our community in the context of Equity and Inclusion.
  • Lead a team of communications professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong track record of developing and executing successful communication campaigns.

  • Proven experience in a senior communications role, ideally within a public sector or local government environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for a range of audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local government, particularly in the context of a diverse and growing community.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact in the community and committed to the values of public service.
