Job Title: Director of Tax

Armstrong Knight is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Tax to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for providing expert tax advice to our clients and managing a portfolio of high net worth individuals and corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and review of personal and corporate tax returns for a wide range of clients.
  • Assisting with the management of client portfolios and providing exceptional client service.
  • Communicating with clients and stakeholders via email and telephone, and being a point of contact for tax-related matters.
  • Preparation of capital gains tax calculations and liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients.
  • Assisting with HMRC enquiries into personal and corporate tax returns, and preparing and reviewing forms P11D.
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and LLP income tax computations, and reviewing those prepared by the accounts/audit team for corporate clients.
  • Assisting with tax advisory projects for existing clients and prospects, including restructuring, remuneration planning, incorporations, share buy-backs, R&D tax credits, EMI schemes, EIS and SEIS applications.
  • Training and supervision of junior team members, and involvement in the management of the team.
  • Preparation of fees for clients and ensuring accurate and timely billing.
Requirements:
  • Preferably ATT/CTA Part or Fully Qualified, or ACA/ACCA/STEP or QBE with significant tax experience.
  • Strong literacy and numerical skills, with a keen interest in trust and inheritance tax.
  • Strong base of experience in a mixed tax role, preferably with a minimum of 50% Corporate Tax practical knowledge.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel and ideally Iris.
  • A minimum of 3 years practice experience, with good up-to-date technical knowledge and recent developments within the tax arena.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to deal with a variety of people in different environments.
  • Organised and able to manage a varied workload, with a client-focused approach.
  • Commercially aware and able to work well under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change, with a positive and committed attitude.
