Community Garden Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Community Garden Assistant to join our team at the Down to Earth Community Garden in Braintree. This vibrant community space is open to the public and features various groups for vulnerable adults every Thursday from 10 a.m.
The garden's primary goal is to use the outdoors as a tool for recovery, particularly for individuals dealing with long-term/chronic illnesses. Our project caters to a diverse range of abilities, including those living with a mental or physical disability, SEND, and young people and adults with complex special needs.
A key aspect of our garden is the social element, which includes regular breaks for tea and biscuits. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain new skills and experience in horticulture and community gardening, working closely with our experienced team to create a welcoming environment for visitors and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the garden
• Participate in gardening activities, including planting, weeding, and pruning
• Help create a safe and inclusive environment for all visitors and volunteers
• Contribute to the overall well-being of the garden and its users
Requirements:
• No prior gardening experience is necessary; training will be provided
• Availability on Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 16:00 p.m.
