Caring Youth Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Caring Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Powys County Council. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to young people with complex emotional and behavioral difficulties.
About the RoleYou will work alongside our permanent team to deliver high-quality support services to children and young people living in our residential homes. Your primary responsibility will be to create a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment where young people can thrive.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with our residents, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being. You will also work collaboratively with families and carers to achieve the aims and objectives outlined in our young people's plans.
Your Responsibilities- Work on a day shift rota to provide continuous care to children and young people living in the home.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with our residents through active listening, empathy, and patience.
- Create and implement engaging activities that promote learning, exploration, and skill-building within the home and local community.
- Collaborate with the permanent team to ensure seamless delivery of support services and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Adhere to agreed policies, procedures, and legislative standards in your work, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a small team. A patient and calm demeanor is essential, as is a commitment to creating a warm and inclusive environment for our residents.
What We OfferIn return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also receive comprehensive training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and career prospects.
