Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientific Research Leader to join our team at the Francis Crick Institute. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior scientist to lead a highly impactful research project using cutting-edge gene editing technologies, in order to uncover novel biological mechanisms involved in tissue regeneration, ageing, and cancer.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for devising and leading gene editing projects within the Tissue Regeneration and Clonal Evolution (TRCE) research program. They will also provide technical and research expertise to assist in projects of other research groups, establish new methodologies in the lab, maintain laboratory organisation and supplies, train and support lab members in standard operating procedures, facilitate collaborations within and outside the Crick, provide technical and research support in human stem cell biology, and manage regulatory protocols and research governance for the lab.

What You'll Need:

  • A PhD in cell biology, genetics, genomics or a relevant scientific discipline
  • Substantial experience in gene editing using iPS/ES cells, primary cells, and/or in vivo models
  • Strong research track-record evidenced by peer-reviewed publications
  • Strong communication skills to audiences of varied expertise
  • Proven track record of laboratory managerial and leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in facilitating collaborations
  • Experience in training/mentoring others, including PhD supervision

About the Salary:

This role offers a competitive salary of £65,000-£85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
