An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Suffolk Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team, for a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in East Suffolk. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist with a specific interest and clinical experience in stroke rehabilitation.

The post is for 30 hours per week on a fixed-term position until December 2025 (maternity cover). You will work as an interdisciplinary team member providing specialist therapy assessments and interventions in patients' homes and communities. Your role will involve outlining rehabilitation care plans for rehabilitation assistants to carry out with supervision, enabling patients to achieve their optimal level of independence.

Main duties include:

  • Working within a stroke interdisciplinary early supported discharge team to provide high-quality specialist rehabilitation to patients following a stroke.
  • Collaborating across the Suffolk Stroke Pathway to ensure seamless provision of stroke services from acute hospitals into the Early Supported Discharge Team.
  • Carrying out autonomous assessments, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based specialist treatment programs for patients following a stroke with complex health needs.

Benefits of this role include contributing to service development, data collection, and supervising junior staff and rehabilitation assistants. You will have access to both Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich offices, traveling across Suffolk to support patients.

We offer a competitive salary of £41,000 - £59,800 per annum, dependent on experience. You will also receive a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments, 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata), and access to NHS discounts.
