Job Title: Development Engineer/Engineering Analyst

Join our team as a Development Engineer/Engineering Analyst and play a key role in assisting Southern Company's retail operating companies with the siting, development, deployment, and acquisition of power generation and energy storage resources.

Job Summary

This position will support the project team associated with the deployment of new generation resources through commercial operation. As a Development Engineer/Engineering Analyst, you will assist the asset implementation project manager on all aspects of project implementation, including creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, project budget forecasting and actuals reporting, contract management, engineering design review, construction monitoring, and performance of economic evaluations and profitability analysis.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist asset implementation project manager on all aspects of project implementation, including:
    1. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
    2. Project budget forecasting and actuals reporting
    3. Contract Management
    4. Engineering design review
    5. Construction monitoring
    6. Performance of economic evaluations and profitability analysis using spreadsheets, production simulation software, and financial models
    7. Preparation and presentation of project status and results to all levels of enterprise-wide management and peer groups
    8. Supporting the electrical interconnection process integrating new generation resources into the Southern Company transmission system
  2. Support development and implementation of appropriate solutions addressing project challenges through identification and response to all circumstances that affect the revenue requirements of the project.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied science, mathematics, accounting, economics, or finance required
  2. Advanced degree is desirable

You will also need to possess:

  1. Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills
  2. Experienced in the development and tracking of budgets and/or financial reporting
  3. Proven written and oral communication skills presenting complex information
  4. Knowledge and experience in the development, implementation, and operation of power generation and/or storage technologies highly desired
  5. Understanding of electrical interconnection process highly desired
  6. Experience in construction and/or contract management highly desired
  7. Proficiency with standard analytical and business software such as Microsoft Office applications is required
  8. Exhibits high proficiency in the development and delivery of information using PowerPoint and other visual messaging software
