Senior Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead our Construction South team on an exciting new £35m project based in Bicester.

Reporting to the Construction/Project Manager, as the successful candidate you will be the number 2 on this site. You will have a proven track record in delivering various types of projects (not purely residential) over £20m+ in value and managing both internal staff and external supply chain to deliver all packages of work as part of the wider team.

*NB. Due to the nature of this project and client - candidates will be required to complete a background vetting process and have a clean police record.

As a Senior Construction Manager at Willmott Dixon your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management. Implement project strategies in order to achieve the company's sustainability objectives.
  • Establish standards of quality on site and ensure delivery of a quality build in accordance with the project specifications and project requirements.
  • Understand the customer priorities and adopt a professional and considerate approach to maintaining good working relations.
  • Ensure Considerate Constructor's Scheme principles are adopted, that the site image is maintained and that community relationships are also managed.
  • Manage project programmes and control operations to achieve delivery of the project on time.
  • Organise the supply chain to provide the right working environment to avoid disruption between trades.
  • Manage the project handover and ensure defect / snag free completion.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential skills required:

  • Proven track record in the successful delivery of the full project lifecycle from cradle to grave on various types of mid-large scale construction projects.
  • Experience in the use of Asta Power project – if not, must have used similar planning software programs.
  • Good understanding of design process and ability to input, track and deliver any change
  • Planning sequencing, chairing and running Coordination meetings, well versed in quality and a strong safety ethos/focus
  • Good understanding of the MEP lifecycle and inputs on a project
  • Maintain high safety standards on-site while ensuring quality control and adherence to building code
  • Hold some Commercial awareness/experience, especially around budgeting, understanding scopes of works and control of variations, along with understanding of the basic control involved around Traditional contracts
  • Other software exposures across Viewpoint and use of Microsoft Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
  • Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC/NVQ4 etc) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • SMSTS certificate.
  • First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Valid driving licence.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
