Job Description for Construction Coordinator (Trainee)

At National Nuclear Laboratory, we're committed to advancing cleaner energy, protecting the environment, and keeping everyone safe. As a Construction Coordinator (Trainee), you'll play a crucial role in delivering our construction projects on the Sellafield site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement construction strategies and phase plans to ensure projects are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Estimate and schedule site works, ensuring timely completion and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect and accept contractors' completed works, ensuring they meet engineering and construction design specifications and standards.
  • Produce final handover documentation and ensure all specified construction and installation standards are met.
  • Ensure site safety and promote a positive health and safety culture in construction.
  • Monitor contractors' compliance with controlling documents and ensure resources are managed cost-effectively.
  • Provide constructability input to the design process and ensure all construction activities comply with National Nuclear Laboratory and UK legal requirements.
  • Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Improve construction safety performance and meet company targets.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum NVQ 3 or equivalent in an engineering, electrical, or construction discipline, with a trade background and completed recognized apprenticeship.
  • Experience of working on a nuclear site and ability to obtain DV level security clearance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in electrical installations and previous supervisory experience.
  • NEBOSH general or construction certificate.
