Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safeguarding team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people within our trust.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
  • Working closely with the Think Family Lead Nurse, Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding, and Maternity Safeguarding lead to ensure effective safeguarding practices
  • Managing a small team of children safeguarding advisors and providing guidance and support as needed
  • Developing and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidance
  • Providing education and training to staff on safeguarding children and young people
  • Collaborating with other agencies and professionals to ensure effective safeguarding practices

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Sick Children's Nurse/SCPHN (Health Visiting) or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a safeguarding role, with a strong understanding of child protection procedures and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, patients, and other professionals
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a commitment to continuous professional development
