Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist to join our Think Family team at Whipps Cross Hospital. The successful candidate will have a strong background in child protection and safeguarding, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The post holder will work closely with the Think Family Lead Nurse, Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding, and Maternity Safeguarding lead to support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children. This will involve working with the Safeguarding Children Team to ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed and that children are protected from harm.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of key legislation and guidance underpinning safeguarding children practice, including the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 and the National Service Framework for Children, Young people and Maternity Services. They will also have experience of working with and developing safeguarding children's procedures within a hospital setting.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children
  • Work with the Safeguarding Children Team to ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Develop and implement safeguarding children's procedures within the hospital
  • Provide education and training to staff on safeguarding children
  • Act as a consistent reference point for child safeguarding issues for staff
