Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist to join our 'Think Family' team at Barts Health NHS Trust.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced nurse to support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023). The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of key legislation and guidance underpinning safeguarding children practice, as well as experience of working with and developing safeguarding children's procedures within a hospital setting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
  • Develop and implement safeguarding children's procedures within the hospital
  • Work closely with the Think Family Lead Nurse, Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding, and Maternity Safeguarding lead to ensure a cohesive approach to safeguarding
  • Manage a small team of children safeguarding advisors
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse/Registered Sick Children's Nurse/SCPHN (Health Visiting) or equivalent
  • Experience of working with and developing safeguarding children's procedures within a hospital setting
  • Strong understanding of key legislation and guidance underpinning safeguarding children practice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and provide support and supervision to staff
