Electrical Test and Commissioning Specialist

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Test and Commissioning Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for delivering electrical testing and commissioning services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver electrical testing and commissioning services to clients, ensuring high-quality results and excellent customer service.
- Conduct site-based and workshop activities, including installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Demonstrate expertise in electrical fault finding and rectification, as well as commercial awareness to provide top-level customer service and technical support.
- Perform installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.
- Conduct function testing of control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers.
- Perform end-to-end protection relay testing.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on switchgear and circuit breakers, replacing SF6 gas, as well as routine switchgear assembly.
- Complete all paperwork, including reports, timesheets, and expense claims, in a timely and accurate manner to support efficient processing of invoices.
- Create and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing specialist support and solutions.
- Ensure issues and risks are escalated to management to allow adequate investigation and resolution.
- Ensure risk assessments and method statements are correct for the work involved and signed by all involved.
- Travel and work at site outside of regular office hours as and when required.

- Relevant experience of installing, maintaining, and testing electrical systems.
- Knowledge of HV and LV switchgear, relays, and associated equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, arresters, switches, automation, insulated power cables, overhead line conductors, and insulators.
- Knowledge of power transmission and distribution systems, electrical prints, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
- High level of PC literacy, including MS Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practice, and industry performance standards.
- Project management skills.
- Experience of developing and managing systems such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001/45001 through accredited bodies.
- Track record of working with auditors and clients.
