Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced software developer with a strong background in physical science and programming skills in languages such as Fortran, Python, and MATLAB. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and validating new features and model enhancements, as well as creating user documentation.
Responsibilities- Software Development: Develop high-quality software solutions for our ADMS suite of models, including design, implementation, testing, and validation.
- User Documentation: Create clear and concise user documentation for our software products.
- Presentation and Communication: Present research findings at scientific meetings and communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A strong background in physical science (e.g., maths, physics, chemistry, meteorology, engineering) at graduate level or higher.
- Experience in coding mathematical programs in Fortran, Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
- The ability to take an intellectually rigorous approach to solving scientific problems and consider the practical needs of users.
- A strong understanding of software development principles and best practices.
CERC encourages and funds appropriate professional membership, usually with the Institute of Air Quality Management / Institution of Environmental Sciences. We provide formal training through attendance of CERC's training courses, and additional training when appropriate to your role.
CompensationThe estimated salary for this role is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
