About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Engineer to join our team at Arup. As a Fire Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering fire safety engineering services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fire strategies in collaboration with the design team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate and apply appropriate legislation and design guidance for use on projects.
  • Understand and implement the principles of fire science on real projects via the engineering process.
  • Perform tasks ranging from undertaking individual risk assessments, fire engineered analysis, including means of escape calculations and smoke modeling, through to creating fire strategies for whole buildings and other structures.
  • Work safely on site to observe fire strategy implementation and learning to understand fire safety operations and management in real buildings.
  • Manage the fire safety input to a range of different projects, oversee and mentor junior engineers, with support by the project director and the wider team.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant degree subject, such as fire engineering, other types of engineering, or architecture-related degree.
  • Registered with a relevant institution, such as the Institution of Fire Engineers, and working towards gaining Chartered Engineer status.
  • 2-5 years' experience in a fire engineering consultancy or similar environment, with knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance used in the UK, and awareness of the new regulatory regime.
  • Experience in delivering evidence-based fire safety solutions and development of fire strategies for UK-based projects, in a range of different sectors.
  • Possess excellent report writing and communication skills, be collaborative, creative, and engaging.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple demands and deliverables.
