Aspire People is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a welcoming primary school. This is a maternity cover position, with a part-time schedule of four days per week.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the school's SEN provision, ensuring that all students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need to thrive. This involves working closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to identify, assess, and support pupils with SEND.
The ideal candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and NASENCO qualification (or working towards it). They will also have proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar SEN leadership role, with strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEN Code of Practice. Additionally, they will be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies.
The successful candidate will be able to develop, implement, and review individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions. They will also provide guidance and support to classroom staff on inclusive teaching practices, ensuring the school is fully compliant with SEND legislation and effectively uses resources to support pupils. Finally, they will monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEN, ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* NASENCO qualification (or working towards it)
* Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar SEN leadership role
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEN Code of Practice
* Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
